When it was released in 2006, this cigar marked a milestone as Cuba’s first medium-flavoured Robusto. Its modern format offered a fresh way to carry forward the iconic connection between the Churchill name and Havana cigars. It’s no surprise that it has since become a major success.

Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, Romeo y Julieta has its origins as a Havana dating back to 1875.

During the early years of the 20th Century, under the direction of the talented promoter Don ‘Pepin’ Rodriguez, the brand soared to international fame. Rodriguez, recognizing the power of the cigar band, used no less than 20,000 different bands in the production of cigars during his heyday.

A devotee of the brand, Winston Churchill, had his name commemorated on a band following his visit to Havana in 1946. His name not only adorns the band but also describes the marque’s most iconic size – Romeo y Julieta Churchills.

Furthermore, the 21st century witnessed the introduction of three similarly named sizes. The Short Churchill, a Robusto size, joined the lineup in 2006. The Wide Churchill, boasting a 55 ring gauge, was added in 2010, and in 2012, the Petit Churchill completed the group.

Romeo y Julieta’s classic medium-bodied Havana is characterized by a balanced and aromatic blend of selected filler and binder leaves sourced from the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Today, Romeo y Julieta maintains its worldwide renown and offers a wide range of tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade cigars.
